Childbirth Education Waiver

I understand that Haven Pregnancy Support Clinic (Haven) is an independent non-profit, non-political organization whose outreach stems from the values of love, acceptance, and compassion.  Therefore while I am present in class or out of class, I will conduct myself in a manner consistent with these values, respecting myself and all present around me.

I understand that Haven receives donations to fund or subsidize the cost of running the Childbirth Education Series and that by attending class punctually and regularly, I show appreciation and respect to those who make this program possible.

I understand that the classes I attend are intended for adults, and will arrange for the care of my children so that I will be free to participate and amplify my experience.

I am currently under the care of a medical practitioner who is legally licensed in British Columbia to provide prenatal screening and to provide medically necessary healthcare.

My doctor/midwife has not indicated any reason that I should not access childbirth education classes and has not restricted my participation in physical activities.  If I am unsure about my ability to participate in class, I will ask my healthcare practitioner before the commencement of any involvement.

I understand that all content presented is intended to serve as a resource in conjunction with a variety of other sources of information, including my health care professional, as I educate myself regarding pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum and infant care.

I understand that the information presented should not be considered medical advice and that the opinions and information given to me by a licensed medical practitioner will take precedence over those presented within the prenatal classes and by any representative of Haven.

I understand that Haven will hold in strict confidence all the information I share, except as required or permitted by law. Similarly, I will respect the confidentiality of other class attendees.

I release all publishers, authors, reviewers and Plumtree Baby, LLC, including their respective members’ managers, officers, shareholders, owners, associates, employees, contractors, subcontractors, affiliates, and agents specifically disclaim any and all liability for any loss, damage or injury alleged to be a consequence, directly or indirectly, of the use and application of any of the contents of the publications used.

Haven Pregnancy Support Clinic is a Christian charity providing specialized healthcare services through regulated healthcare professionals. Services include pregnancy testing, pregnancy confirmation services, pregnancy options support, STI education, testing and treatment, and Pap tests. STI testing at HPSC includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, and viral hepatitis (HBV, HCV). HPSC does not provide general medical care or emergency services. Clients experiencing acute symptoms such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, fever, or unusual bumps or lesions are advised to seek immediate assessment from a nurse practitioner or physician.

Pregnancy options support is educational and supportive in nature; we do not provide clinical counselling or psychotherapy services. We provide support for all pregnancy outcomes, including continuing a pregnancy, adoption, or abortion.

When clients require ongoing or additional care—such as prenatal services, long-term prescriptions, or contraception management—we provide referrals to primary care providers or other appropriate healthcare services. We do not provide, arrange, or coordinate abortion services. Where a client has independently determined that an abortion will be pursued, we advise them to seek care through the established health system. For clients without a primary care provider or who may feel uncomfortable accessing one, we can assist in connecting them with accessible care options, including walk-in clinics, nurse practitioners, or telehealth services.

All services are delivered in accordance with applicable professional standards and within the nurse’s scope of practice.
